Fishermen receive grant aid
The improvements to the Hayle Harbour facilities include theinstallation of two brand new electrical winches used for liftingboxes of fish, shellfish and gear; the purchase of two ice machineshoused in a new secure unit on the quay; insulated bins for storageof ice, and a set of scales. The project also allowed for thefishermen to be trained in the proper use of the winches. JohnCarter, fisherman and Chairman of the Hayle Fishermen's Associationadded "The working life of the fishermen is much better and thequality of the fish is kept at premium. Its really brought Hayleharbour into the 21st century. We want to thank all the funders fortheir help."

"We mustremember that not only do our fishermen carry out a difficult jobtheir boats and culture add significantly to the feel of the town."
