"It's a nice, calm type of hobby," Jordan, who is originally fromFremont, said. Jordan said she learned to spin in 1980 and was taught at LymeVillage in Bellevue. Wayne Smith, who helped build the log cabins at the fairgrounds, was looking for someone to have a spinning display years ago, andJordan said she offered, and has been there ever since. She even used to enter some of her creations in the fair. Other crafters typically buy her work. "There are certain ones I won't sell because they are special tome," Jordan said. The first weekend in September she will be spinning at Pioneer Daysin Lyme Village. Although spinning looks a bit difficult, Jordan said, "It takesabout less than a week to learn." "It's just a matter of being able to work with a twist. Thinneryarn takes more twist." Jordan used to be involved in the Black Swamp Spinners Club andtraveled to area fairs. She used to have several sheep and would get them sheered to usetheir wool for spinning. "Those were the good 'ole days," she laughed, as the 156th SanduskyCounty Fair wrapped up on Sunday. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

Lingerie made from the Raschel machine ML 35 C August 26, 2008 (Germany) Manufacturers like lingerie with fewer seams, since it takes lesstime and effort to produce, and women like it because it is morecomfortable to wear. The garments, which are produced almost as a single piece, provideoptimum body support, without chafing or pinching. They guaranteetotal freedom of movement and do not show underneath the garmentworn on top. However, this "secret support" is also extremely attractive andseductive as the matching set shown here illustrates. The lingerie was produced at KARL MAYER on the ML 35 C multibarraschel machine and "Kettenwirk-Praxis" has been closely followingthe entire development process. This technical journal described the production of the first panelfabrics /1/, presented some interesting results /2 + 3/, andreported on the production of the final pair of briefs /4/. The entire set is now ready to be unveiled. The bra and briefsfeature an abstract flower design and a graphic, checked pattern. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

Hint of fall summons knitters to consider joining guilds

It's also time for the guilds to start up again, and it's not tooearly to think about what you'll be knitting or crocheting forChristmas gifts. Take a few moments this week to ponder your needlework projects. Isthere something you want to learn this year? This could be the year you learn to knit or crochet. Maybe you just need to push yourselfto go to a more advanced level of stitching. Perhaps you want to try out a new technique of knitting or learn tocrochet broomstick lace. No matter what skills you have, there is alocal guild that is just right for you. Anchorage is lucky to have guilds in almost all the needle crafts. There are also guilds in Palmer, Wasilla and many other areas ofthe state. If you don't have a guild meeting near you, there aresmaller groups of stitchers congregating at your local yarn store, quilting shop or coffee shop. These gatherings are wonderful places to find more experiencedknitters and crochet devotees, and most fiber folks love to teachothers their passion for stitching. If not, they will certainly beable to point you in the right direction. Don't be afraid to seek help with your needlework, and don'timagine that your questions are silly. Every knitter or crocheterhas learned from another, who learned it from someone else. This ishow the finer points of needle arts are passed on. The whole point of a local guild is to meet others who share yourinterests in a particular needle art. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

"It's amazing how many more people are coming in," said new ownerDiane Willey. "Not only do we now have three times the floor space,it's more convenient for our customers." Willey, who had been a knitting teacher in the evenings at the YarnBasket, said she had grown tired of being a nurse and working inthe health care industry. She was more than ready for a change. When the former owner, Elaine Wilder, decided to retire, the timingwas perfect. "All the staff except one, who just had a baby, moved with me tothe new location," said Willey. "Even Elaine will be working onMondays, so she will also still be around." According to Willey, knitting is growing as a hobby and pastime. Italso doesn't hurt that, with the cold weather on the way andheating oil prices rising, a warm sweater or two makes sense. In the fall, the Yarn Basket will be offering a wide array ofclasses, from beginners to intermediate and advanced, and specialtyclasses such as how to knit Afghan squares. A new option for knitters this fall is the Friday night knittingclub, based on the popular novel of same name. It is soon be amovie produced by Julia Roberts, who also happens to be an avidknitter. "I always wanted to be my own boss," said Willey, "and especiallydoing what I love the most knitting." Willey is thrilled that her staff of eight came along with her inthe move. She said it's really like a family of knitters, and theenthusiasm is high. There is a definite clubby, knitting atmospherein the cozy and inviting environment. It certainly helps to have triple the space, too, she said. Thishas allowed Willey to increase the stock. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

Michelin's latest X One wide-base tire designed with Canada in mind

DALLAS, Texas -- Michelin has expanded its line of X One wide-basetires to include a drive tire that optimizes traction, an ideal fitfor the Canadian market, according to the company. Don Baldwin, product marketing manager for Michelin, said therelease of the latest member of the X One family wasn'tspecifically timed to coincide with the new rules in Canada whichpave the way for the more widespread use of single tires. However,he said Canadian customers will appreciate the improved traction aswell as the tire's long life and low rolling resistance. The X One XDN2 tire is the first to incorporate Michelin'saward-winning Michelin Durable Technologies, specifically MatrixSiping Technology. The technology features corrugated grooves inthe tread block which lock the tread block to minimize horizontaland vertical stresses, Baldwin explained at the Great AmericanTrucking Show. By doing so, the tire reduces wear and alsogenerates less heat, resulting in better fuel mileage. truck tire Like other X One tires, the X One XDN2 also features Michelin'sInfiniCoil, a steel cord more than a quarter-mile in length, that'swrapped around the tire to stabilize the contact patch. TheInfiniCoil gives the crown of the tire increased stiffness, reducing premature and inconsistent wear and providing betterhandling, said Baldwin. "This tire takes the traditional compromise between traction, longlife and fuel efficiency, and throws it out the window," said MarcLaferriere, vice-president of marketing, Michelin Americas TruckTires. "By utilizing two different Michelin Durable Technologies, the X One XDN2 tire delivers significantly increased tire life andexceptional, uncompromised traction, complementing the significantfuel efficiency gains of a Michelin X One wide single tire." An open-shoulder tread design is ideal for carving through water, slush and snow, Baldwin noted, making it ideal for Canadianconditions. The X One XDN2 wide-base single drive tire will be available inNovember in a 445/50R22.5 size (equivalent to a 275/80R22.5 size),with a 455/55R22.5 size (equivalent to an 11R22.5 size) becomingavailable in December, the company said. It will ultimately replacethe X One XDA-HT Plus tire. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

"These days it's tougher and tougher because of fuel prices,"Demick, 36, said. "I had to slow down. Now my max speed is 105(kilometres an hour)." Speed limits in the United States are as high as 120 kilometres (75miles) per hour. Speed reductions are one of several fuel-saving measures thetrucking industry has been using since the price of diesel rocketedin the past year. Diesel was selling for about $1.40 a litre thisweek in Montreal - double what it cost when Demick got into thetrucking business 13 years ago. In the face of diminishing profit margins, trucking firms aremaking their fleets more aerodynamic, putting in generators to cutdown on idling costs, and installing speed limiters. Quebec City-based Transport Guilbeault, one of the province'sbiggest trucking companies, recently reduced the speed of itsvehicles, capping maximum speeds at 95 kilometres an hour - downfrom 98 last year, said Marc Cadieux, president of the Associationde camionnage , the largest trucking association in theprovince. "Just by bringing their speed limits down three kilometres an hour, they estimate they will save $500,000 in fuel in one year," Cadieuxsaid. The days of bulky, square-nosed trucks with massive radiators andprotruding exhaust pipes are slowly being phased out as truckdesign moves toward more aerodynamic rounded corners and recessedheadlights and tanks. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

Her husband, 64-year-old Maurizio Bertoli, was struck by the tireand killed. Investigators say it was about 2:00 p.m. when the 18 wheel tractortrailer rig, traveling Southbound on I-95 between Broad and theWalt Whitman Bridge, lost two of its rear tires that broke from theaxle. One of those tires struck a northbound car causing minor damage, then, struck the minivan. Police say Maurizio Bertoli, the driver of the minivan, didn'tstand a chance against the flying projectile that made its wayacross the expressway like a bomb. Authorities say the driver has been fully cooperating with theinvestigation, but they want to know more about the tractor-trailerowned by Ray Joyce of Laurel, Maryland and AM Keefe Transport inc.of Broomall, Pennsylvania. "It will be fully inspected with what's called a Mishap SafetyInspection and a Log Book Inspection, so we get a betterunderstanding of how that wheel assembly and those tires came off,"said state police Lieutenant Dave Buckley. State police say it's too early to tell if any charges will befiled in connection with this case. Meanwhile, a triple Aspokeswoman tells us that while its common for pieces of tirescoming off tractor-trailer rigs posing hazards for others, theyconsider an entire tire flying off a rarity. http://www.1topsupplier.com/

SCOTT: Flat Tire Ruins Hopes for Top Finish at Bristol

A cut right front tire in the early stages of the OReilly 200NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway deniedBrian Scott any hopes he had for a top five finish. Scott wasforced to pit under green on lap 30 of the event and lost threelaps to the leaders. Despite the fact that his No. 16 AlbertsonsChevrolet was as quick as many of those in the top 10 he was unableto make up his lost laps. Scott was also involved in two other ontrack incidents. Despite all the adversity he and his XpressMotorsports were able to outlast many of his fellow NCTScompetitors in what proved to be a typical Bristol slugfest andclaim a 19th place finish. It was not the finish we wanted to get I can tell you that, Scottsaid after the event. But I will say that this team did not giveup in any way. We kept working on the truck to get it better and wewere able to get it to where it drove pretty decent. The cut tirereally put us in a bind early on and we had to just hang in andhope for things to break our way. We could never get the cautionsto fall when we could have gotten our laps back. I cannot sayenough about all the guys who work on this Xpress team. Theywouldnt let me get down, they never got down and we kept after itall night long. Scott qualified his Chevrolet in the 22nd position and held his ownat the start of the event. On lap 27 Scott radioed his crew that hehad tire trouble on the Albertsons Chevrolet. He came down pit roadunder green flag conditions and his crew changed four tires asquickly as possible. He reentered the fray three laps down to theleaders and in 36th and last spot in the running order. Scottpitted again under caution on laps 44 and 45 and again on lap 60 tohelp make adjustments to tighten up his chassis. On lap 123 whilerunning mid pack Scott spun his Chevrolet in turns one and two, getting clipped in the process by the Ford driven by Erik Darnell. The contact caused minor damage but forced yet another pit stop tochange tires on lap 131. On the 9th caution flag of the eveningseveral trucks tangled in turn two and Scott slowed to avoid thewreck, several seconds later an inattentive Donny Lia slammed intothe rear of Scotts Chevy causing both trucks to spin. Despite themelee Scott was able to survive the carnage and hold onto a 19thplace finish. I am just glad to get out of here with the truck in one piece,Scott said. There were a lot of cautions, a lot of action outthere tonight in typical Bristol fashion. Even when we were able tomiss the wrecks others didnt miss us. It makes it tough to get agood solid finish. It would have been interesting for us if wedidnt have the cut tire because our truck was competitive. http://www.1topsupplier.com/
